Take #905 Boston (-125) over Washington (7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Yeah, sure I'll take a team that is unbelievable in Interleague Play, great against lefties, and all-around just a better squad at a number like this. I really like both of the arms on the mound. But I like Penny's better. He is 12-5 in his career against the Nationals and now that he doesn't have to worry about trade rumors I think he can just relax and take care of business. The Nationals bullpen has been throwing well lately. Too well. Those guys aren't very good so I can see an implosion coming. Also, I like Boston's lineup more without David Ortiz in it. All around just a solid situation. Books are thinking that the Nationals are going to stay hot - they have won four of six against the Yankees and Jays - but I think the day off stunted the momentum. They have been getting damn lucky in those four games and had to have everything break their way just to squeak out some one-run wins. I don't think Boston will give away any games and they will take the first in this series. 1.5-Unit Play. Take #927 San Francisco (-115) over Oakland (10 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Tim Lincecum has been great in his career on the road and he is 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA in three starts against the A’s in his career. He has a 2.08 ERA over the last month and I just think he gives the Giants the edge against Oakland this time around. 1.5-Unit Play. Take #910 Toronto (-140) over Cincinnati (7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) The Jays are rested and ready and looking to continue their weekend IL success. The Reds have not been playing well and are only 3-7 in their last 10 games. The Jays have been very tough at home and the Reds just haven’t been getting it done against left-handed starters. It's not one to go big on, but it's a mediocre game between mediocre teams that I think we have the right side on. 1.5-Unit Play. Take #913 N.Y. Yankees (+105) over Atlanta (7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Atlanta just isn’t up to par here. They are a mediocre team and Yankee fans should outnumber Braves fans 2-to-1 in Turner Field. Tommy Hanson is young and unproven and he got lit for six runs in his last home start. Chien Wang has been making improvements and his ground ball-to-fly ball ratio is headed in the right direction. The Braves don’t hit anyone, so he should be steady enough to go six or seven innings here. The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five trips to Atlanta and 10-4 in the last 14 meetings. The A.L. East has taken it to the N.L. East this year and I think the price is right on this game. 1.5-Unit Play. Take #925 Colorado (-120) over L.A. Angels (10 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Just looking for the Rockies to stay hot. Sean O’Sullivan got it done in his MLB debut but now is due for the letdown game. Ubaldo Jimenez has been great in nine of his last 10 starts. The Rockies have the advantage with the lineup and are just playing out of their heads right now. 1.5-Unit Play. Take #901 St. Louis (-125) over N.Y. Mets (7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Backing up the chase just a hair here with the Cardinals because Joel Pinero has dumped five straight starts and eight of nine. But I hold firm that the Triple-A style lineup that the Mets are trotting out there every night isn't going to muster a four-game sweep of the Cardinals. Especially because all four games should be low scoring (we're chasing an 'under' as well) and in one of those games I think the Mets bullpen will implode. 1-Unit Play. Take #930 Seattle (-135) over San Diego (10 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) San Diego has been a disaster on the road, a mess against left-handed pitching, terrible in Interleague Play, are 7-19 in its last 26 against Seattle, and in general just sucks at life. They are pathetic and are playing against a "hot" Seattle squad. I think that Garrett Olson is garbage and he's one of my favorite fades. But that's how little I think of the Padres right now, that I'll gladly throw some bills on Olson to beat them. We will chase on Seattle in this series. Today's Totals 2.5-Unit Play. Take ‘Under’ 9.0 Boston at Washington (7 p.m., Tuesday, June 23) Note: Bump to 3.5-Unit Play. The wind is blowing in. 2-Unit Play.
